Student Summer Contract Program

The Student Summer Contract Program provides students a 10-week summer work experience to work as a contractor in assigned organizations related to their academic course of study.  Full time summer job opportunities are available for a wide variety of positions.  The Office of the Secretary of Defense/Washington Headquarters Services (OSD/WHS) works with private sector contractors who recruit, hire, and place students in more than 54 different OSD offices and agencies.  These summer positions are in the Washington, DC, area and last for 10-12 weeks.  The positions are identified either as internships, which provide substantive work experience in your academic field of study, or as administrative/clerical in nature.

NSF Student and Early Career Information

This Student and Early Career Information page from NSF summarizes funding opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral student researchers to participate in international research and education activities. Individual postdoctoral and graduate student researchers may apply directly for a number of OISE programs. In addition, postdoctoral and graduate and undergraduate student researchers may be supported as participants in collaborative research projects, joint workshops, and other activities supported by NSF.

Energy Student Ambassadors

Energy Student Ambassadors represent the Department of Energy (DoE) on college campuses across the U.S. Ambassadors increase awareness, knowledge, and interest in the DoE’s mission and its career and educational opportunities. Students gain networking opportunities, along with resume building, leadership, and professional opportunities. Total monetary compensation can be $3,000 for the academic year, with up to $1,000 in competitive performance incentives.

Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program

The Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program offers talented undergraduate and graduate students summer internship positions with the U.S. Department of Energy and its national laboratories. Positions involve scientific research or a focus on policy, business, and government relations. All internships include paid lodging, round trip airfare, and monetary compensation.
