Hello all! For the past four years, I have had the pleasure of serving as an officer for what was once the Student Constituent Committee and is now the Student Division. And let me tell you, it has been one great adventure. Looking ahead at my last few months as the Chair of the Student Division, I can’t help but be excited for your arrival in Atlanta, the place I currently call home, and all that the Student Division has in store for you at the 2013 Annual Conference.
Things are really beginning to shape up for this year’s conference. This year’s executive team has been working tirelessly to put together sessions that will address the issues that students face as they begin to dig into engineering education research and practice, as well as develop a voice in the ASEE organization.
Secretary Notes – Please join me in welcoming the new officers with new ideas and new ways of expanding our scope as a division. We all look forward to seeing you at the Annual conference. Remember to sign up for the student division sessions (paper and poster) and dinner on Monolith. Registration is now open and details about Annual dinner will be coming soon. The Georgia Tech Student Chapter of ASEE volunteered at the Georgia State Championship of the FIRST Lego League 2012 Challenge, which was held on Jan. 26, 2013, on Georgia Tech’s campus in Atlanta, Ga. The competition consisted of 48 teams of students, ranging in age from 9 to 14, who had each devised and built their own LEGO Mindstorms robot. The robots competed by completing various tasks on a 4ft x 8ft arena within a time limit of two and a half minutes.
