ASEE Student Division

The ASEE Student Division was created at the 2007 Annual Conference and Exposition to provide student members a voice and home within the national organization. Student Division objectives for ASEE student members include: fostering programs at regional and national ASEE meetings; promoting the development at ASEE Student Chapters at local campuses; participating in local K-12 STEM education activities; promoting graduate school opportunities for undergrads; promoting scholarships, fellowships, and post-doctoral opportunities; providing opportunities for students to gain insight into academic careers and teaching practices; developing ties between Division members and ASEE Corporate members; developing international opportunities; developing the next generation of ASEE leaders; and building a community of student members. NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP), administered by ASEE, helps ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science and engineering in the United States and reinforces its diversity.  The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions.  The NSF welcomes applications from all qualified students and strongly encourages under-represented populations, including women, under-represented racial and ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities, to apply for this fellowship.

Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program

The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program (NDSEG), administered by ASEE, is a highly competitive, portable fellowship that is awarded to U.S. citizens and nationals who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in one of fifteen supported disciplines. NDSEG confers high honors upon its recipients and allows them to attend whichever U.S. institution they choose. NDSEG Fellowships last for three years and pay for full tuition and all mandatory fees, a monthly stipend, and up to $1,000 a year in medical insurance.

Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program

The Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP), administered by ASEE, provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer. The goals of NREIP are to encourage participating students to pursue science and engineering careers, to further education via mentoring by laboratory personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN.
