Epicenter Fellowships and PepsiCo Competition

Here are two new potential resume-builders for you to explore. One is a fellowship from the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter) for a student and a faculty member; the other is a student engineering competition sponsored by PepsiCo and the Society of Women Engineers.

Epicenter University Innovation Fellowships

Award: One student and one faculty fellowship.
Deadline: May 11, 2015

University Innovation Fellows are teams of student leaders who work to ensure that all students gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to compete in the economy of the future. At their schools, Fellows increase student engagement with entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, design thinking and venture creation.

The program is run by the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), which is funded by the National Science Foundation and directed by Stanford University and VentureWell (formerly NCIIA).

PepsiCo & Society of Women Engineers present the Student Engineering Challenge

Award: The first-place team will receive a cash prize of $500 per team member, the second-place team will receive $250 per team member, and the third-place team will receive $100 per team member. Each of the top three finalist teams will receive a certificate of recognition.
Deadline: May 29, 2015

Due to limited access to certain natural resources (such as: clean water, energy, reliable agriculture sources) PepsiCo must find innovative ways to connect with and help consumers in emerging markets as well as domestic markets. PepsiCo must also strategically find ways to make advances in areas of sustainability.

PepsiCo is looking to leverage young engineers to identify disruptive innovations – innovations that impact us across every function and country to address unmet needs and improve the way in which we make, move and sell our products while doing so in a way that furthers PepsiCo’s commitment to environmental sustainability as well as its impact on society.
