Are You Jelly?

Aerogels are the world’s lightest–that is, least dense–solids. Inspired by a bet two scientists had over jelly in 1931 (yes, as in “peanut butter and…”), aerogels are used as insulation and other capacities in space missions. How well do aerogels work?
