Purdue President Wants to Grow Science, Tech Even More

purduePurdue University President Mitch Daniels is looking to grow the university’s College of Engineering even more than the current five-year expansion plan that is adding 100 extra professors, according to the Indianapolis Star. Daniels recently spoke of a plan to change more classes from traditional lecture style to project-based classes that emphasize teamwork among students and more interactions between faculty and students.

Daniels also said that Purdue’s College of Technology will be renamed the Purdue Polytechnic Institute. He’s also looking to improve the undergraduate experience by allowing more on-campus residential options and introducing more study-abroad scholarships, but he did not provide many details on how his plan will be carried out or how much the initiatives would cost, according to the article.
