The Student Summer Contract Program provides students a 10-week summer work experience to work as a contractor in assigned organizations related to their academic course of study. Full time summer job opportunities are available for a wide variety of positions. The Office of the Secretary of Defense/Washington Headquarters Services (OSD/WHS) works with private sector contractors who recruit, hire, and place students in more than 54 different OSD offices and agencies. These summer positions are in the Washington, DC, area and last for 10-12 weeks. The positions are identified either as internships, which provide substantive work experience in your academic field of study, or as administrative/clerical in nature.
The criteria for these programs are determined by the private sector contractors who are the employers. They fill the positions to meet the needs of OSD customers. To qualify for consideration in the SSCP, applicants must be a bona fide student pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university.
To obtain a student position with OSD/WHS, applicants must apply directly to the private sector contractor(s) responsible for management of the SSCP. Applications are generally accepted by the contractors for summer contract positions from mid-December through the end of February. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more specific information about the application process.
